EXPLAY Patriot package

The “patriot” will fall into the hands of the buyer in an unpainted cardboard box, which, as the inscription on it says, is environmentally friendly. The box is painted in white with an image of the navigator, as well as a brief description of its characteristics and a description of the configuration. The navigator comes with a car charger and a charger for a regular household outlet, a detachable mount, a USB cable, one stylus, as well as instructions and a warranty card.

There are no complaints about the quality of the components - all elements are made of high-quality plastic that does not emit an unpleasant odor.

EXPLAY Patriot appearance

The EXPLAY Patriot dimensions are 137x89x12 mm and it weighs 177 grams. The navigator body is made of glossy plastic in two colors (black and beige). Front side"patriot" is completely occupied by a 5-inch screen, which is covered with a protective film.

All connectors of the navigator are located on the left edge: a slot for a microSD memory card and a USB connector. Next to the connectors is a reset button.

At the top end there is a single button (on/off) and a groove for fastening. The back cover has a drawing of a world map, and there is also a speaker covered with a grille.

The result of the case is that the case is assembled “excellently” and is also made of high-quality materials, there are no creaks or backlashes, all elements are well adjusted to each other. The only thing that spoils the stylish minimalistic look of the EXPLAY Patriot are the stickers on the back cover, which, by the way, are applied crookedly.

EXPLAY Patriot fastener

You can attach EXPLAY Patriot to the car glass using a dismountable mount with a suction cup and bracket. The mount is not the most compact, but quite well thought out and easy to use. The mount allows you to change the position of the navigator in several planes (from 30 to 40 degrees) by loosening and tightening one screw fastener.

The dimensions of the mount make it easy to find the most convenient place and not remove it anymore, because the navigator is easily removed from the mount.

EXPLAY Patriot screen

A 5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 480x272 pixels is used. This display has good viewing angles. In sunny weather it glares a little, apparently due to the protective glossy film.

The screen responds well to touches, both with fingers and the stylus. As with other 5-inch screens of other models, it is more convenient to “work” with the Patriot screen using a stylus.

EXPLAY Patriot filling

EXPLAY Patriot runs on the MstarMSB2531A chipset with an ARM7 processor clocked at 800 MHz. This processor and 128 MB of RAM are enough to cope with navigation, quickly get directions and ensure all applications work.

4 GB of internal memory is also available. Since more space is needed to store new maps, videos and music, this modest amount of memory can be “expanded” using a microSD memory card. The maximum allowable capacity of a memory card is 16GB.

EXPLAY Patriot software

EXPLAY Patriot, as a classic representative of its family, runs on the Windows CE 6.0 operating system with a pre-installed shell and software.

Handles navigation installed program"Navitel" with maps "Commonwealth" and Scandinavia.

As for the rest of the software, the navigator received such “amenities” as a media player (video and music), an e-reader (alas, only txt format) and the ability to establish a Bluetooth connection with other gadgets. These are undoubtedly nice additions for a device that is indispensable for long-distance trips.

Summary of EXPLAY Patriot

So, EXPLAY Patriot is a typical representative of navigators on Windows CE. This “unit” is practically free of drawbacks. The only downside is that the stickers are glued crookedly. Otherwise, it is a stylish, simple, convenient gadget with a number of additional features. EXPLAY Patriot has nothing superfluous, but still has everything needed for fast navigation and entertainment for the driver on the road.

Explay has released a modern multifunctional device that supports two global navigation systems. This allows you to significantly expand the user experience when using the device. Let's take a closer look at the Explay Patriot device.

Characteristics

Regardless of the small resolution of the Explay Patriot screen (480x272 pixels), the map on it is visible quite well and in detail. In addition, the display even allows you to watch videos and movies on the device inside the car.

The fast operation of the navigator is due to a super-powerful processor with a frequency of 800 MHz. This guarantees high-quality and fast operation of the gadget. The device's RAM is only 128 MB, but this is enough to save and process various information.

The navigator has an internal memory of 4 GB, which is enough to install three navigation programs. Explay Patriot has the maximum implementation of navigation. In addition, it is possible to embed an additional 16 GB flash drive, which expands the user's capabilities.

Thanks to the built-in Bluetooth module, you can synchronize the gadget with your phone or download information about traffic jams when driving in urban conditions.

The navigator has a very powerful battery, which provides continuous operation for 2.5 hours.

Distinctive features of the navigation system include support for GLONASS. Thanks to this option, the navigator finds more satellites and has more reliable reception. Unlike its predecessors, Explay Patriot is more powerful, which is good news. For example, this is important in conditions of lack of communication or off-road conditions.

Due to the presence of the Navitel 8.5 software package, it is possible to set the coordinates of an object in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Scandinavia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. This navigator has a large memory, thanks to which the gadget not only displays data about the location of the car, but also allows you to watch movies.

Features of working with GLONASS and GPS

GLONASS and GPS systems are designed for precise definition object locations. The distinctive features of the systems include the fact that GPS is American satellites, and GLONASS is Russian. Accordingly, it is better to use the second system when driving on the highways of our country.

Explay Patriot is a device developed on the basis of the GLONASS system. The system is based on working with 24 satellites located in orbit around the planet. To determine the coordinates, the satellite calculates the distance between the satellites.

The GLONASS system has a fairly simple operating principle: using the receiver, the coordinates of the tracked object are determined. After this, the information is processed and stored by the tracker built into the receiver. After processing the information, the coordinates of the object are sent to the tracking system server, where they are processed and transmitted in the form of graphic diagrams. Thus, the driver receives data on the location of the object on the screen.

The most popular manufacturers of navigators continue to “churn out” gadgets, alternating and combining options in every possible way. All this is nothing more than a marketing ploy; as a rule, nothing new is added to the device.

However, Xplay did its best and gave us a new product, which, although it does not feature fancy hardware and all sorts of bells and whistles, is designed to improve the accuracy and quality of navigation. How can this be done? Of course, there is GLONASS! But that’s not all, for super-quality navigation you need to have several navigation programs “on board”. And this is here too!

If you are looking towards devices with GLONASS, then take a look at ours. Maybe look for some suitable model for yourself.

Brief characteristics of the gadget:

— Diagonal 5 inches
— Resolution 480 by 272 pixels
- Percentage 800 megahertz
— RAM 128 MB
— Built-in memory 4 gig
— Operating system — sixth Windows SE
— There is a Bluetooth module
— Battery 0.95 ampere hour
— Navigation — iGo, CityGuide and of course Navitel

If we briefly describe this gadget, we can put it this way: a 5-inch navigator with an “overclocked” processor, quite fast (because the processor is fast, it costs Windows and there is enough RAM). And the most important thing is high-quality navigation due to the fact that there is support for GLONASS and there are as many as 3 navigation programs. And it is possible to download traffic jams through blue ace. I have never seen such a “navigator” filling before! Moreover, the cost of the device is only 3,500 rubles.

I think this gadget will definitely be in demand, because many manufacturers have taken a different route, filling their devices with unnecessary junk that you use a couple of times a year. But less attention is paid to the quality of navigation. In vain!

So, now a little more detail:

A 5-inch screen with a resolution of 480 by 272 is, of course, already a thing of the past. These were made 3-4 years ago. However, if you consider that there is a faster filling here, then you can ignore the antediluvian screen. In fact, it’s not a good idea to watch movies on it. (although this option is provided here). The map is clearly visible and this is more than enough.

The processor here is already 800 megahertz (for such simple Naviks, a processor with a frequency of 500-550 is considered standard). So this gadget will not slow down. Of course, it would not hurt to make the RAM not 128, but at least 256 MB, but this is probably still expensive for manufacturers. However, even 129 MB is enough here, because the percentage is fast and most importantly, this is not Android, which eats up system resources like hell. Therefore, the “hardware” here can be called optimally balanced.

The built-in memory is 4 gigabytes, on which as many as 3 navigation programs fit completely. As you can see, navigation here is implemented to the maximum. There are the most suitable programs for both the highway and the cities. Do you live in a metropolis (St. Petersburg, Moscow)? In the city, use CityGuide, on the highway - Navitel. Have you decided to leave St. Petersburg for Finland? Turn on Igo and go! And if you still decide to watch movies on the road, then increase the memory using an additional flash drive up to 16 gigs.

To use it in the city, sometimes you need to “load” traffic jams. There is a Bluetooth module here, so synchronize your Navik with your phone and load the traffic jams to your health. The implementation, of course, is ancient (no match for modern Android), but what can you do? This is not the trick of the gadget. Traffic jams, by the way, look better in the CityGuide program.

You can also say a couple of kind things about the battery - it’s quite decent. According to the manufacturer, the gadget can work without recharging for up to 2.5 hours. Of course, if you reduce the brightness and volume, reduce it by about half.
